2. When did people begin to live in Daegu

Lately, we ever heard that people in New York had opened a time capsule, which was buried in the ground 100 years ago, to know something that have a lot of information about the society. In Korea, many people would held the events to bury a time capsule in order to show their descendant the modern life styles. We have found "A Time Capsule buried in the ground" for many years ago, and have been finding even now.  The archaeology - relics and places of historic interest - might be another time capsules that tell us our ancestorꡑs life, because they did not have any letters to write us their history. The ancestors hand down their living in the ground and on the ground. Because of urbanization, however, many relics on the ground are disappeared. Today we can see a few of relics remained in the ground, so that we might see their living.

Relics Say

When did people start to inhabit Daegu? Weꡑll be able to find the answer with relics left on earth in Daegu. It is sure that people from other region start to inhabit Daegu  early the Neolithic Age ; the New Stone Age, and there is possibility to inhabit Daegu in the Paleolithic era : Old Stone Age. To find this answer we spent a lot of time and efforts.

In the mid-’80s, we only know that people started to inhabit in the later Bronze Age (BC 4C) through the bronze age sites found Mt. Yunam and Chimsan. However, In 1988, we are able to know that people started to inhabit Daegu around BC 10C ; early Bronze Age, as The researchers in Kyungpook National University Musem excavated the sites in Wolseong-dong, Dalseo-gu, which were early Bronze Age places.

After 10 years, in 1998, Comb-patterned pottery  was excavated in the site of Seobyun-dong, Buk-gu, by Youngnam Munwhaojae Institute. The result of excavating made us confirm that people started to inhabit Daegu in the New Stone Age. Before excavating Seobyun-dong, we didnꡑt explain why a neolithic site was not found in Daegu as many regions near Daegu already have found the neolithic sites. In advanced we might have a possibility to find another neolithic sites and a paleolithic site.

Sincerity moves heaven, November in 1998 to February in 1999, a piece of comb-patterned pottery  was excavated in the site of a dolmen located Sang-dong, Suseong-gu, by Daegu National Museum. In Dec. 2000, the next year, we also found some relics of the Paleolithic era. By the same researcher in Daegu National Museum, s a a lot of artificial gravel was excavated at the lowest place from Bawigueluel in Pa-dong. However, we are not sure that the artificial gravels were used or was bought from other regions. So we are looking forward to their scientific result. To excavate this artificial gravels must have been an epoch-making discovery that is able to force the archaeological age of Daegu level up to the Paleolithic era.

Those two years from 1998 is the significant times to level up the archaeological age of Daegu to the Paleolithic era. The result of these excavating would make Daegu a long historical city and people in Daegu be proud of their history. Then how did people who lived in Daegu in Neolithic Age undoubtedly, and might have lived in Paleolithic era live? We probably will be able to know their life with excavated relics and Places.
